A New Chapter for the Riveras

TRIGGER WARNING - this blog involves topics such as infertility/miscarriage.

A few weeks ago, I received a message from our sister, Sherisa from @fertilityincolour inquiring about a photoshoot to commemorate the end of a very painful season she and her husband have endured. They have suffered through 5 miscarriages over the past 5 years with 0 living children. Sherisa and Will have spent an obscene amount of money on this fertility journey, undergone countless procedures, and worked with dozens of specialists from California to Greece on this fight for their children - not to mention all the trauma, depression, and PTSD they continue to live through. All these things have led them to their decision to try IVF.

Here’s the kicker. IVF costs anywhere from $12,000 to $25,000. They will begin the process this month and are in need of a divine miracle to raise the other half of their expenses before day 1. I serve a mighty God that said “ask, and it shall be given to you.” They have asked and now I am asking with them. I’m a firm believer that somehow, posting this will raise the rest of their expenses. It’s crazy right!? I don’t even have that many followers! lol But God don’t make sense, y’all! He’s not a logical God and He has never explained Himself to me lol. I have, however, seen Him work miracles in front of my eyes and I am excited to see Him do it today!

THIS IS A CALL-TO-ACTION. I'M ASKING YOU TO DO 3 THINGS:

  1. Donate to their GoFundMe here (literally a n y t h i n g at all helps)

  2. If you can't donate, please like and share this blog post so others will see it and act.

  3. Follow Sherisa and Will's journey on Instagram at @fertilityincolour and help them continue to advocate for people of color that experience loss and are twice overlooked by medical professionals.

This photoshoot seeks to honor every step in the parenthood journey and acknowledge that every pregnancy/birth doesn't result in a taking a baby home. Lastly, this is not a place to give the couple unsolicited advice or offer up other insensitive commentary. It is a place to donate, share, and leave your support. Thank you in advance for what we are about to accomplish! To learn more about Sherisa, Will, and their pregnancy loss advocacy for the 1%, visit their website www.fertilityincolour.com.
