Catoria's Birth Story

Catoria labored with the support of her doula and husband all day. When night fell with little progress, we decided to all sleep over at the birth center so mama could rest and labor through the night but there wasn’t much sleep taking place. On May 30, 2020 was one of the many nights of unrest around the world after the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police. We were locked inside Dallas Origins Birth Center watching the chaos outside unfolding. You can read more about what it was like here. After over 48 hours of laboring, Catoria’s family, midwife , and doula decided it’d be best to do a hospital transfer to get induced and get some rest. Birth plans do not always go according to our plan but it is still so important and rewarding to have one.
