hi there, i’m carmen!

I am a wife, mother of two girls, and a birth photographer from the Midwest creating provocative art below the Mason-Dixon line. For 13 years I have worked as a professional photographer and for the past 6, I have devoted myself to birth photography with a focus on storytelling and narrative-shifting themes.

my own journey to motherhood

I have been overwhelmed with emotions from the moment I purchased a pregnancy test. I thought I wanted my pregnancy to last forever. My days were filled with daydreaming, midwife appointments, yummy food, and hardcore nesting. And then my sweet girl was born. I feel as if I fell in love with a stranger. Learning her was a challenge but loving her came so easy. I am so glad I have these photos to look back on when my children grow up and have families of their own.
